·       3 consonant S-blends

Three-letter consonant blends are formed when 3 consecutive consonants are in the same syllable of a word and not separated by vowels. Unlike digraphs, the original sounds of each letter are maintained.

Consonant blends are an important part of learning how words are put together and how they correspond with sounds.

This 18-page product has multi-sensory phonics material to explicitly teach 3-letter S-blends. The S-blends are common, usually appearing at the beginning of a word. The activities provided will set students up well through this literacy adventure.

Text readings, word meanings, gap-fill sentences, rhyming, and word-picture exercises underpin the learning of words beginning with: STR, SCR, SHR, SPL, and SPR. Students are encouraged to sound out and listen to the sounds produced by these letter combinations.

Learners will enjoy the inclusion of a unique S-blend game, a quiz, and cut-out cards.

Suitable for: grade 3 (S.A. Caps curriculum) to 4, ESL & homeschooling.
