Resource Description

The penultimate product in this series, ”5 Words a Week”.

Knowing how to spell a word makes reading and writing (and spelling, of course!) a lot more comfortable. Repetition and a multi-sensory approach are important. The more young learners ”play” with words, the more fluent they become.

English spelling does have rules and patterns – both of which can be learned. Some words, however, are tricky and do not follow regular spelling patterns, nor can they be ”sounded out”. These words must be learned by sight. Off by heart!

These sets are at the foundation level and include both high-use and sight words. Learners are encouraged to conquer five words a week. This will depend on the individual level. This product (sets 8-9) is 11 pages and includes a revision page.

Young learners are encouraged to colour or trace the words, say them out loud, build them, decorate, and to have fun learning them. Get the crayons ready!

Suitable for: ECD, ESL and home-schooling.
