Grade 4 Term 3 Natural Science & Technology Tasks

This resource includes TWO term 3 NST tasks that are CAPS aligned.

Task 1 = Movement and energy in a system (60 marks)

Students will explore concepts of movement and energy in a system by designing and creating a simple musical instrument. This practical task will help students understand how energy is transferred and how movement can produce sound.

Task 2 = Investigating Vibrations, Sound and Noise Pollution (30 marks)

Students will conduct an investigation to understand how different types of movement cause vibrations that result in different sounds using an elastic band. Student will explore how to make sound louder and how they can further travel. Students will identify sources of noise pollution and research health risks associated with exposure to loud sounds, such as loud music. Finally, students will explain to peers how to protect their hearing.
