Resource Description

Learning to read is followed by the process of reading to learn. A child needs to be able to comprehend what s/he is reading for the rest of their academic life. But too often, the splinter skills of comprehensions are not taught systematically. This book looks at the splinter skills of scanning for words, matching question types, solving riddles, identifying errors, associations as well as reading for meaning, for detail and for purpose. All of these skills can then be integrated to approach traditional comprehension passages.
