Resource Description

Children in Grade One should have had a good deal of practice with phonemic awareness.  This is hearing the sounds in words and being able to identify their differences. Once children start learning about phonics, they begin to match these sounds to letters and must know how to blend them to make words.  The various sea creatures show the children how this is done. It is an appealing and enjoyable activity.
