Born a Crime: Scheme of Work

This Scheme of Work covers Part 1, 2 and 3 of Trevor Noah’s autobiography: Born a Crime

It includes tasks for each chapter, designed to cover reading and writing outcomes in a fun, engaging way. I did it with my mixed Grade 8/9 class over a few weeks but it can easily be adapted for older grades. This book is such a wonderful way to open up genuine, meaningful discussions about Apartheid and my class really loved it.

I have included vocabulary lists for each chapter for Part 1 but did not continue this into parts 2 and 3 as we were just too busy. I’ve also taken some of the powerpoint slides and created classroom notes so that students don’t need to waste too much time writing them down.
