Cartesian plane and Coordinates Interactive activity

This resource asks the learner to draw a Cartesian plane on a given grid.  The learner has to then draw any animal and plot 5 points on that animal.  All plotted points then need to be named and given coordinates.  Learners then swap with a peer and they use a given checklist to check each other’s work.

Ways to use this resource:

• Worksheet for Gr 8 learners’ on determining coordinates and drawing Cartesian planes.
• Revise Gr 8 content with Gr 9 learners to test baseline knowledge.
• Use it as a reward-based activity to improve class morale.  For example, the most creative animal or funniest animal gets a small reward.
• Learners can work in pairs or bigger groups.
