Resource Description
– This product is aimed at (Home and First Additional) Language teachers in the Intermediate Phase.
– This product will help new and more experienced teachers on how to set up and assess a Listening assessment task /activity.
– This product is a step-by-step guide consisting of 8 pages (excluding the cover page and copyright).
The reasons I decided to compile this instruction guide is because:
– teachers are not sure about the specific requirements and teaching goals of a listening task (based on the curriculum, i.e. CAPS);
– teachers are not using the appropriate text types (i.e. poem, instructional text …);
– teachers are not asking the right questions (based on Blooms Taxonomy) at the appropriate grade and language proficiency level; and
– teachers are not implementing the listening task for the betterment of the students (follow a FAIR structure).
I hope that this Instruction Guide will be to your benefit as a teacher when setting up a Listening task or activity. Kindly let me know if there are ways to improve the content of this product in order to support teachers in their language classroom!
