This resource provides a step-by-step phonics lesson that you can easily follow in your classroom. It also has activities that allow for application of the new phonics skills you have taught. I follow a specific phonics sequence in my classroom and this resource is the second step in that sequence.

My phonics lessons typically look like this:

  • Review: auditory and/or visual drills
  • Phonemic awareness: phoneme isolation, blending, segmenting and/or phoneme manipulation
  • New sound: introduction of the new phonic skill
  • Application: a variety of activities that allow for application of the new skill at phoneme, word, sentence and text level.
