Resource Description

This set of cards is used either with Grade R or Grade One learners. It is important that before children are expected to read, they have a thorough grounding of phonemic awareness and phonological awareness. Once they know sound/symbol relationships, they will move on to phoneme/grapheme mapping with blending and decoding. The resource is also useful for introducing rhyming words, even before children learn symbol sound relationships. The cards and be copied into workbooks and illustrated for consolidation and reinforcement. It is a useful resource for second-language learners as well as in a remedial setting.
