Counting with Body Image

This resource helps children learn to count using body image. It is played by the whole class. The teacher holds up a card with a body image position and her ‘helper’ holds up a number (E.g. 3) or number name card (E.g. three). If a clapping card is shown, the children clap as many times as the number card indicates. This game is a firm favourite and has been used in the Reception class as well as in Grade One. Number cards have been provided in English and Afrikaans but the game can be adapted to any language provided the teacher makes her own ‘number name’ cards.
