Although the long ‘O’ sound can be represented by 5 different spelling patterns, this 15-page product focuses on the O_E, ‘OA’ and ‘OW’ spelling patterns, traditionally introduced before the others.
The material begins with a revision of all long vowel sounds, syllables and vowel teams in order to prepare young students for the new learning. The guidance is structured and sequential using all three learning channels: auditory, visual and kinesthetic.
The ensuing pages use a multi-sensory approach to include a variety of engaging spelling activities: word-picture match, gap-fill sentences, correcting the spelling, handwriting, colouring, position of the long ‘O’ sound in words and a final ‘challenge’ page.
