Should we be detectives today to learn about silent e words? Let’s try to crack the secret code by looking at pictures, identifying the beginning sound and then see what it tells us.

This interactive lesson consists of:

– Discuss the ‘silent e’ or ‘magic e’

– Pronounce words without the ‘e’ and with the ‘e’ at the end

– Read a short story

– Find all the ‘silent e’ words in the story

– Read sentences

– Fill in the missing words in the sentences

– Decode sentences by using beginning sounds of pictures

– Dictation

– Read ‘silent e’ words and put them in sentences
