This summative assessment task is designed to assess IB MYP Criterion A: Knowing and Understanding.
It assesses the three strands:
Objective A: Knowing and understanding
i. explain scientific knowledge
ii. apply scientific knowledge and understanding to solve problems set in familiar and unfamiliar situations
iii. analyze and evaluate information to make scientifically supported judgments.
It assesses the student’s knowledge and understanding of mechanical energy and energy conversions by explaining the energy conversions involved in a roller coaster ride.
