How to build a word wall:

During the first week, only the alphabet cards line the top of the wall.

Start posting a few words at a time suited to your class ability and needs, eg. words learned in Grade R, names of learners.

Add new words with the help of your learners: words frequently used in class discussion or during creative writing, words from the reading series, word families, maths vocabulary, etc.
